APS HONOURS -Associate of the Australian Photographic Society – AAPS

The “Associate” Certificate of the Australian Photographic Society has been awarded to me. The goal I set myself was to to achieve this in one year…and what a year!!!
To attain the AAPS Honours you need to be a Member of the APS (Australian Photographic Society) and enter National and International Photo Salons. http://www.a-p-s.org.au/ Points are accumulated for any photo Acceptances and Awards are given for anything higher than an Acceptance, such as Best of Show, First, Second, Third Place, Honourable Mentions, Merits, etc.

The Society rewards its members who achieve excellence in photography. Members achieve different levels because of their motivation, exemplary service, desire to reach a goal, improve self esteem, recognition of their skill, artistry and ability. Recognition to APS members is given for skill in the form the Honours category that is being applied for, in my case, Associate (AAPS)

I entered the OPEN Category which is the most challenging category as you are competing with the best professional photographers as well as amateurs!!!

The International Loupe Awards is a very tough competition as you are up against top professional and amateur photographers worldwide.

I was happy to be awarded one SILVER and two BRONZE awards this year. My portrait shot was only one point under a Silver too…

Sue Black AFIAP AAPS Honours

Photographic Honours AFIAP & AAPS

Exciting news.

Last week it became “official” and I was awarded my AFIAP and AAPS Honours.

This means so much to me due to the fact that I achieved the goal I set for myself during February 2010, which was to attain my Photographic Honours within one year!

Although I have known about my Honours success for about four months I have had to keep quiet until the formal dinner at the APSCON conference on September 30th 2011.

Now I need to set my sights on furthering my photography and doing things I have wanted to do for a while but haven’t had time for.

I will also aim to achieve further Photographic Honours however I will do it in my time as time permits.

Now I can sign my name:

Sue Black AFIAP AAPS B.Bus

(What does this mean? Who knows!!!)
